Rare Snow Day

I can count on one hand the times our little two-room schoolhouse has closed for weather. With over a foot and counting, today was one of them. Before 10am the girls had: played dress-up, held a ball for their stuffed animals, then a raging dance party, which devolved into throwing every stuffed animal with bloodlust; that morphed into a pillow fight, followed by collapsing on the floor and reading books, all before breakfast.

The snow gives me pause, time to reflect on this past weekend, settle in, and think. Hence why I’m finally starting to chronicle our adventures. After a car crash dream and reading about parents fleeing Ukraine with toddlers bearing their names and phone numbers in case of the worst, spring snow reminds me that the flowers and warmth only come after a long season of death.

What a beautiful (early) Easter weekend we had. The girls spent Friday tearing down the old settler’s cabin on the Ranch (remember to post about that), Saturday was spent tackling spring cleaning and resting, and Sunday we played at Yellowstone Hot Springs among the molting elk and bison. Absolutely fabulous. Adelaide asked about the Easter Bunny point-blank so I had to fess up and as always she took it with a shockingly mature stride. Alexandra seems extra snuggly lately, wanting to be on my or Coop’s lap constantly, always holding our hands and giving hugs.

This family is truly the most important thing, and more precious than I could have ever imagined. And less I forget, we celebrated one year of adopting the hairiest fur butt of all time and are so lucky to have him in our lives.
